What Is It?
Invisible orthodontics refers to systems designed to move teeth with minimal visual impact in the patient's mouth. This is achieved through the use of transparent aligners that allow precise, progressive dental movements.
Before starting orthodontic treatment, we use advanced 3D imaging technology to show you your complete treatment plan—from the initial position of your teeth to the desired final result. The clear aligners are custom-made based on the diagnosis and specific instructions provided by Dr. to the lab technicians. This process requires solid expertise to ensure that your teeth move gradually by sequentially changing the aligners. The aligners are replaced every 7 or 15 days, depending on the treatment phase, progressively aligning your teeth. In addition to the clear aligners, we always need to bond small composite attachments to the teeth. These attachments help guide the more complex movements. In most cases, we also use elastic bands between the arches to help correct the bite. The aligners are removable (the patient can take them in and out) and, to be effective, they must be worn for approximately 22 hours per day.

CASE STUDY: Before starting orthodontic treatment—whether with braces or clear aligners—for children or adults, we carry out a complete orthodontic assessment. This includes facial and dental photographs, an intraoral scan, and two types of X-rays: a lateral cephalogram and a panoramic radiograph. Using this information, Dr. Elena Ceballos studies the case and makes the appropriate measurements to offer a personalized treatment plan and diagnosis for each patient. The first phase of the process involves the doctor explaining the diagnosis and proposed plan so that the patient fully understands the treatment objectives and the expected results. If clear aligners are chosen, we can also show a simulation of your tooth movements and the final expected outcome.

DURING
ALIGNMENT AND CORRECTION:The goal of this phase is to correct dental crowding and vertical discrepancies. We use light forces to move the teeth, correct crossbites, and guide unerupted teeth into position. This phase may last between 6 and 8 months, after which the teeth are aligned and the dental arches are levelled. BITE CORRECTION: This stage focuses on correcting the bite or occlusion, helping the upper and lower teeth to fit properly. In some cases, elastics or external appliances are used to assist in correcting the bite. FINISHING DETAILS:This is the final phase, where we perfect small positional details to ensure ideal alignment and bite before removing the orthodontic appliance.

RETENTION: The post-orthodontic period is called retention. In orthodontics, maintaining the achieved results over time is just as important as obtaining them. That’s why every patient must wear a retention device after completing treatment. These retainers can be either fixed or removable. Fixed retainers are thin steel wires bonded to the back of your teeth from canine to canine. Removable retainers are transparent passive aligners worn over the upper and/or lower arch. Often, both types of retainers are combined.
